The Tipping Point Machine

An interactive sculpture constructed from individual narratives and built to connect these narratives in subtle and un-mappable ways.

Interactive Components

Participants to the show will navigate through the installation freely; they will not need to physically interact with the sculpture but they will be aware that their movements affect the installation. Optical sensors will collect data as participants move through the room. As participants move closer to the sculpture, individual structures will tip fowards and as they move away, the same structures will tip back. This will force a series of slip-joints to shift the sculpture. This will alter the shape of the connecting rods enbableing the sculpture to move as both individual parts and a collective unit.
