January 26

Conversation:
Registration. Studio Overview. Class Overview.
Introduce yourself and your area of interest to the new class members.

Assignment: 
Finalize your last assignment from previous semester for publication in the
public area of the K-12 web site.  Prepare a 20 minute presentation of your
teaching philosophy and how it relates to your area of interest.


February 2
Workday  - Do While Lab or remote.


February 9

Conversation:
Second Semester Student Presentations

Technique:
Review uploading, linking and updating your own site.

Assignment: 
Identify steps (technical, administrative and conceptual) to applying a new
 media  project into your own classroom. Prepart a flowchart.


February 16 - PRESIDENTS DAY NO CLASS


February 23 - OPTIONAL

Conversation:
Building Content: Creative Learning in New Media -- Part 1
	How the computer works
	2D Image Manipulation - making/changing meaning

Technique:
Open Lab experimentation of different new media tools, techniques. Do these
 new media techniques change the way we are creative? 

Assignment:  
Create a 20 minute classroom "project" introducing the computer to an art
classroom  -- use any traditional or new media tools. Be prepared to use the
members of our class as your students.


March 2


Conversation:
Each student presents their "steps to a classroom project" to the class.

Building Content: Creative Learning in New Media -- Part 2
	2D - 3D Transformation
	Time Based Media - animation, motion
	Non-linear Time Based Media - multimedia

Technique:
Open Lab experimentation of different new media tools, techniques. Do these
 new media techniques change the way we are creative? 

Assignment:  
During the next several weeks you will work independently on a project to be
integrated into your own classroom.  Which will include the following stages.
	steps to classroom project
	implementation
	assessment
	presentation


March 9

Conversation:
Each student presents their "project" progess to the class.

Building Content: Creative Learning in New Media -- Part 3
	Distributed Push/Pull Media - Intranets and Internets
	Distance Learning Modules
	Virtual Communities
	Hybrid Learning Environments
	New Media and Culture

Technique:
HTML continued. Preparing graphics for the Internet

Assignment:
Continue work on independent project.  

March 16 + 23  - SPRING BREAK HOLIDAY NO CLASSES

March 30

Conversation:
Each student presents their "project" progess to the class.

Discussion about  each "project" and how they relate to the Curriculum
 Frameworks, and how they could be appropriate or modified for different grade
 levels and facilities.  

Technique:
Introduction to on-line Curriculum Frameworks, on-line curriculum templates,
design spreadsheets. HTML Table and Frames

Assignment: 
Link Curriculum Frameworks to your projects


April 6

Conversation:
Each student presents their "project" progess to the class.
Lecture: Designing for the Screen - designing for the medium, designing for
your audience. Information Design in a nutshell.
Lecture: Interface Design and Project Management - The Difference between
Information and Knowledge.

Assignment: 
Begin Final Projects


April 13

Conversation:
Visiting Presenter - Beth Kanter, Education Coordinator, Artswire.

Technique:
Second Semester Student Workshop
