Highly Personalized Curriculm

K12 Curriculum Development in New Media is for both art education students and practicing teachers looking to advance their career with either graduate credit or Professional Development Points.

Course Description

Students will meet with art educators, technologists, and designers to explore the tools of new media and develop ways to integrate these tools into the traditional art classroom. Using the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Frameworks as a guide, students will publish their class projects on-line as part of a growing archive of new media related art curricula.

A variety of software and hardware tools used in K-12 classrooms will be discussed and students will be instructed in internet use and web publishing. While students will acquire basic HTML and other technical competency, this course will concentrate on the conceptual and management skills needed to integrate new media into the K12 classroom.

This course is run in conjunction with the Massachusetts College of Art Division of Graduate and Continuing Education and graduate credits are awarded through our Cooperating Institution Program. Professional Development Points for Art Educators are also available and are awarded by Do While Studio after successful completion of the course. Limited space available..
